29th November 2011 - Napp’s oncology team shortlisted for Marketing Excellence award
Napp Pharmaceuticals Limited has been shortlisted for the Chartered Institute of Marketing Excellence Awards for the launch campaign of our most recent oncology product. We are one of four organisations shortlisted in the pharmaceutical/health service provider/medical supplier category.
The Awards recognise marketing excellence across the public and private sectors, and the judges are looking for campaigns that are innovative and creative, and show consideration of the market, challenges and changing customer needs, as well as demonstrating a return on investment. Alison O'Toole, Director of Oncology said, "Benefitting patients is one of our key company aims, so it's important to us that we communicate effectively to our customers about our new products to ensure that appropriate patients can benefit from them. We also need to make sure that our marketing plans are cost-effective to ensure our sustainaility and our ability to invest in future projects. We were curious to know how our plans compared with others, so entering the Awards was a chance to compare our launch strategy and tactics with the very best in the industry sector and we're delighted to have been shorlisted."
The winners of the Awards will be announced at an evening celebration in London in February.
Monday 7th November 2011 – New Managing Director joins Napp Pharmaceuticals Limited
Dietmar Leitner has been appointed Managing Director of Napp Pharmaceuticals Limited (NPL). Dietmar has worked in the pharmaceutical industry for the last 16 years, working as Division Manager at Abbott Laboratories before becoming General Manager at Mundipharma Gesellschaft m.b.H. in Austria in 2006. He succeeds Antony Mattessich who left NPL in May 2011 to become Regional Director Europe at Mundipharma International Limited.
Commenting on his appointment, Dietmar said, “I am delighted to be joining Napp at a time of great change for the pharmaceutical industry and our healthcare customers. There are significant challenges to be faced, but also opportunities for us to work together for the benefit of patients, and I am looking forward to working with my colleagues here to continue our success. Napp has significant expertise in analgesics, an expanding oncology portfolio and a very promising respiratory franchise. This, alongside our very collaborative approach to business, will, I believe, be a significant strength in the emerging healthcare environment."
Sunday 13th November 2011 - £32,000 raised for Wallace Cancer Care
Following on from the success of the Black Tulip Ball last year, which raised funds for the Teenage Cancer Trust, we have this year worked with our suppliers and other local companies to support Wallace Cancer Care. Last night, we hosted a fundraising dinner in our award winning buildings on the Cambridge Science Park, which raised an impressive £32,000 for the charity.
The event included a presentation by local author Allison Pearson, whose books include I Don’t Know How She Does It, and guests were treated to performances from Tenors Incognito, the renowned jazz singer Helen J Hicks and rat-pack singer Mickey Fordola. The fundraising total was boosted by guests’ bids during the charity auction, with lots provided by a long list of generous local and national companies.
Commenting on the success of the event, Beryl Hobbs from Napp said, "We've been overwhelmed with the support and genrosity of everyone associated with this event. We had over 150 guests, even more than last year's fundraiser, and poeple were so generous on the night." Felicity Pugh, Co-Chair of Wallace Cancer Care said, "The amount riased makes an enormous difference to us because sums like this do not come our way often. This event has been our most successful fundraiser to date; Napp is a remarkable company."
Both Napp and Wallace Cancer Care would like to extend an enormous thank you to all the guests, performers, sponsors and donors who made the event a success.
Tuesday 29th March 2011 – Napp becomes official Base Camp Sponsor for 737 Challenge
We are really pleased to announce that we have become an official Base Camp Sponsor for Richard Parks’ 737 Challenge (click here). Richard is attempting to conquer the 7 summits (the highest mountains on each of the world’s continents) and trek to the North and South poles inside 7 months to become the first person to stand on the continental summits and all 3 poles in the same calendar year, and set a new benchmark in the climbing of the 7 Summits. During this incredible challenge, he is raising funds in aid of Marie Curie Cancer Care.
Phil Groom, our Public Affairs Manager for Wales said, “I have had the pleasure of meeting Richard a few times and I am really pleased that Napp has been able to sponsor him and his team as he undertakes this truly unique and inspirational challenge to raise funds in aid of Marie Curie Cancer Care. This was a great opportunity for us to continue our commitment to supporting those involved in delivering end-of-life care. We wish Richard every success and look forward to following his progress and his safe return.”
Richard began his attempt in December last year and has successfully completed the South Pole, Mount Vinson in Antarctica, Aconcagua in South America, Africa's Kilimanjaro and Australasia's Carstensz Pyramid. He has just completed his 6th leg trek to the Geographic North Pole with Steve Williams, OBE. Richard said, "I am thrilled Napp are supporting this challenge. If it wasn't for businesses like Napp supporting the 737 Challenge, I wouldn't be here and able to raise funds in aid of Marie Curie Cancer Care, so their support is vital not only to the success of the expedition, but enables me to carry on raising funds. I am extremely proud to have them on board; they are really passionate about the challenge, which is just awesome."
Monday 7th March 2011 – At the top for the 5th year running
Napp Pharmaceuticals has once again achieved a high ranking in the Sunday Times Top 100 Best Companies to Work For in the UK. For the fifth year running, we have achieved a Top 25 position and we remain the highest ranked pharmaceutical company. The survey provides a useful external benchmark of our success in a number of key areas, including how valued everyone feels and how they feel about the company, their manager and their colleagues.
Antony Mattessich, MD, said, “One of Napp’s aims as a company is to be a great place to work, so when it comes to culture and engagement, we set the bar very high. We recognise how important these are, both to individuals and the company’s success, so they will remain an important focus for us as we continue to strive to benefit patients and the people who care for them amidst a rapidly changing healthcare environment.”
Thursday 3rd March 2011 – Napp hosts Science Park environmental event
Napp recently worked with Bidwells, property managers for the Cambridge Science Park, to design and host an open meeting to share best practice in environmental responsibility. As well as sharing ideas, the companies attending heard from speakers talking about legislation, and ways to reduce waste and energy, and were able to talk to representatives from Cambridge Charter, an organisation that works with companies to create voluntary agreements to reduce their environmental impact, South Cambridgeshire District Council, and companies who support their customers to recycle and reduce energy consumption.
The concept for the event came from one of our employees, Ruth Moulder, who works in our Quality Department. Ruth is particularly passionate about the environment, and was keen to share best practice with other companies, she said, “Although I think Napp has implemented some great ideas that have had combined benefits for both the company and the environment, I felt it would be really useful to learn from other companies. I am thrilled that our Health, Safety & Environment team and Bidwells were so supportive of this event and that it was so well attended.”
Following the success of the event, Bidwells will be developing an environmental policy for the Science Park.
