Bard Pharmaceuticals Limited is the manufacturing company of our group. The following divisions are located within BPL:

Production Operations

The unit is a solid dose facility responsible for the manufacture and packaging of tablets, capsules and sachets. It operates a 24hr/5 day shift system and is comprised of processing and support functions.

The Manufacturing department is responsible for the dispensary, granulation, spheroid, compression, coating and capsule filling work centres. The Filling & Packaging department is responsible for the blisterpacking, sachet and container filling work centres. In all cases the very latest technology is used to ensure the highest levels of Good Manufacturing Practice, Health & Safety and Security are met.

Performance of the unit is closely monitored to ensure high standards of customer service are maintained. Several support departments assist the unit in achieving this goal. These include Manufacturing, Process Support, Packaging Process Support, Artwork Origination, Compliance and Training and Development.

Logistics and Supply Chain

The Logistics and Supply Chain department is comprised of the Production Planning team, the Contract Manufacturing and Material Supplies team and the Warehouse and Distribution department. Each plays its role in ensuring that our products reach our customers when required.

Production Planning

This section is responsible for the planning of all manufacturing and filling and packaging operations of the production unit in Cambridge.

Contract Manufacturing and Material Supplies

This section is responsible for the day-to-day management of relationships with our contract manufacturing and material suppliers; ensuring the accurate and timely supply of information and products to and from both organisations.

Warehouse and Distribution

Working 24/5, the Warehouse and Distribution department is responsible for the efficient receipt and processing of all raw materials and packaging required for production, and the receipt storage, picking and packing of orders for despatch to our UK and overseas customers.

Working in section teams on a double day and permanent nightshift pattern, the departmental team, including a central administrator, ensures that there is continuous support for the Manufacturing and Filling and Packaging operations. Using specialised mechanical handling equipment and a computerised stock control system, all materials and orders are handled and prepared in line with the strict requirements of GMP, health, safety and security policies.

Engineering Department

The Engineering Department comprises two sections: Maintenance and Projects:

Maintenance

The key functions of the maintenance team are as follows:

  • To maintain the Company's buildings and grounds.
  • To maintain production and laboratory equipment.

Projects

The Projects team are responsible for providing the following services:

  • Project Engineering and Management Services on projects ranging from new equipment for research or production, to facility improvements.
  • A process development improvement service.
  • Production of drawings using Computer Aided Design technology for new works.

UK and Export Customer Services

This department is responsible for the Order Management for both Home Trade and Contract Manufacturing, which involves liaising both with our associate companies and UK wholesalers. This includes the responsibility of entering orders, ensuring we have the correct documentation in place to send an order out, sending out invoices and managing returns, including processing credits and rebates.

It is also responsible for maintaining and updating the forecasts for our contract manufacturing customers which includes the submission into the budget twice a year.
